Dyeing red hair blonde?

I have light red hair (almost blonde in itself), and had blonde highlights put in a while back now. I would love to go all-over blonde, and my friend's mum has said she would happily do it for me, as she dyed my friend's hair last weekend.

I have read that self-dyeing red hair can go horribly wrong, but I don't want to pay salon prices if i don't have to.

Help?!

Why on earth would you want to dye over your beautiful red hair. Red heads are rare, and special. Don't ruin it by dying it blond or highlighting it. Go natural and enjoy life.
