I want to dye my hair black to dark red.?

I have black hair. I dyed it a few weeks ago. I really want red hair now. I tried covering it with red and only my roots are red. I really dont have enough money to get it professionally done. I was wondering, can I dye it blonde and then cover it with a dark red color? What would that do to my hair? If I use deep conditioner will it help it from getting fried?

Uhm it all depends on how you do it really. I had black hair in May and I dyed my hair red, it took two dye jobs and highlighting in between the two but it came out great and my hair wasn't fried. But I had to get it professionally done, so I don't know if you'd even be able to do it by yourself. If you want red that bad, I'd say, save up and get a professional to help you. I'd think it out a bit and see if red is REALLY the color for you, then once you've decided do what you want. I have black hair now also and I'm about to go red again. So good luck with your hair.

get a dye stripper, and itll strip it all out and make it go blonde, then you can die red over it, but red hair dosnt look very nice on most ppl

NOTHING GETS BLACK HAIR OUT!!!! I've had black hair for two years, even my hair dresser can't get it out. You can't do anything to it now unless frying your hair. There are two options: bleach your hair, which we all know will kill it and your hair will be brittle and ugly, or you can get the colour stripped, depending on your hair length, it will cost $35+. I've had two friends who have done this, one has gorgeous hair, the other has fried hair. It all depends on your hair type. I thought about getting my colour stripped, but my hair dresser said it would kill my hair (i have thick thick curls) and by the way, don't waste your money on trying to dye over black, it won't work. Last year I dyed my hair red....my ends were black..it didn't look attractive, and red hair dye comes out every time you shower. And it's noticeable too, you actually see the dye come out. Red is not so good a choice. But if you really want that colour to come out, I suggest going to your salon and checking the cost of stripping the colour. It won't kill your hair as much.
