Does the red hair gene skip a generation?

I am pregnant with my 1st baby and I just have a question.

My mom has red hair and her brother (my uncle) has it to. My 2 sisters and I do not have any red hair. My sister had a baby and she didn't have red hair. My baby's father doesn't have any red hair in his family. Does anyone know how this works? What are the chances of my baby having red hair? Does it skip a generation? Thanks for your help!

Does the red hair gene skip a generation?

It doesn't skip a generation,. However, there must be red heads on each side of the family to have a red headed child. My ex was a red head, and I have an auburn headed little boy and a strawberry blond little girl. The other three are brunette (2) and blond (1). We got the whole rainbow. LOL

Does the red hair gene skip a generation?

The chances are low. All other hair colors are dominant over red. It's actually going extinct.

Does the red hair gene skip a generation?

Genetics is a roll of the dice. My friend had a baby with red hair and her mother-in-law kept on telling her it was turning brown (she's not too bright). Red hair is adorable.

Does the red hair gene skip a generation?

I don't think it does. My mother had red hair and so do I.

Does the red hair gene skip a generation?

In order to have a red head you have to have to red gene on both side, meaning mom and dad must both carry the gene.

Does the red hair gene skip a generation?

from what i understand, red hair is kind of dominant.(if its carried on both sides) i do not have red hair, neither does my husband, but, our parents have it on both sides, we have one blonde, and two red headed little boys, we are pregnant again and wondering if we are going to have another red haired baby, probably so and thats ok with us, i like the red hair, personally.anyway, hope this helps a little. hope all is well with you and your baby. take care. God bless

Does the red hair gene skip a generation?

anything can happen. I have a red-headed friend who's grandmother had red hair - but she has 2 kids, and both of them have red hair. It can show up anywhere.

Does the red hair gene skip a generation?

Red doesn't skip a generation. But it is recessive. So, both parents have to have the red gene to have kids with red hair. BUT- keep in mind that it can have INCOMPLETE dominance where you can have kids with red tones to their hair, but not entirely red hair.

Does the red hair gene skip a generation?

sometimes

Does the red hair gene skip a generation?

This all has to do with genetics. Red hair is a recessive gene, so therefore unless his family has more red hair, then your children will not have red hair. blande hair and red hair are recessive because of the lightness in color. Blue eyes are the same way. If you are not satisfied with my answer, then look up Punnett Squares and make one of the genes that run in both of your families.
