Evening out red hair?

Ok, I dye my hair all the time. I used Loreal HiColor Red on my hair and it did do the trick. But not quite. It reddened my hair pretty good, but since my hair wasn't virgin or even my red is kind of bright up top and dark down bottom.

I'm hoping for an even bright red.

I was thinking about just using Manic Panic (or some other vegetable dye) to highlight it evenly. My hair is still dark enough to not go firetruck red on me.

So what does everyone think? Is there any other ways of going about this? All comments are appreciated.

I would use another session with the Loreal HiColor, it sounds like it didnt get destubited right. doing it again should do it.
