Is there any way to cover red hair dye??

i have red streaks through my hair which is bright at the roots but quite faded at the ends. I put a semi chestnut brown colour in to see how it would take to my hair and the red is still pretty visible although not as much. would a permanent dye cover the red or am i stuck with it ?? how could i get rid of the red if so ?

A couple of years ago my hair was dyed red, and my brilliant stylist was able to cover it in one go. She first dyed my hair with a colour that was that of dark chocolate, and then she gave me a few highlights (I am a natural blond, and wanted to go back to my colour, but had to do it in stages). After that, every 40 or 50 days I went back to have it dyed again, and if any reddish hue was visible (it was very seldom this happened, and it wasn't a terribly visible thing), it immediately disappeared with the dark dye. And of course, I had again the highlights done. It was great, as I was able to get rid of the red colour quite fast. Hope this helps.

you can have your hair stripped of all its colour so it will be back to your natural colour. i think it is pretty expensive though!

This is where you go to a professional. It is considered a hair color correction. You have to remove the color and then put in another color. You are dealing with chemicals that the layperson knows nothing of. It would be very, very risky for you to do this yourself..

When you go to a salon make sure you get a consultation first and see if they charge or not. Talk to the stylist and see if you both are on the same page and she is giving you the time of day. If not, then go where you feel comfy. Get eye contact and see if she gives you the details and is not afraid of what she has to do. Good luck and God bless

Use pre-lightener, then the desired colour.

It's not that dangerous, I have a cousin who is a stylist and what she said you can do on your own. first you can't remove a dye unless you want to burn your hair off. 2nd a permeant color thats only a few shades darker than your original would do great apply it only to where you have thee read highlights. 3rd the resulting affect chesnut hair who dark permeant highlights. Trust me my cousin assures me it can be done, she had a similar experience at her 1st pep rally when she was in highschool it really clashed with her uniform, I have blackmail photos, Anyways don't worry your not stuck with anything. If you can put it in you can get it out

go to the chemist and buy a grey (ash) hair tint - this will tone down the red in your hair - it might not remove it completely but it will do the trick - if you are nervous about using a permanent tint, just buy a colour rinse- after applying it, buy another bottle of semi permanent tint (grey or ash colour) and mix it half and half with your shampoo - when you wash your hair - you will then just be adding some more of the colour to your hair.Hope this all makes sense and helps!!
